April 8th - Kilkenny

April 8th

Good afternoon everybody!! How are you today?? First of all remember to look for the information of our Zoom meeting in Blended. I am so anxious to see you!

Today we are going to work on your Compass book.

Task 1

Please open your books on page 81 and listen to the story as you read it.
Click on the following link to listen to it:

Here they are presenting you the differences between past simple and past continuous. Remember that when two past actions happen at the same time, we use the past simple for the action and the past continuous for the long action. You can also revise this from the mind maps you have in your
folders.

Task 2

Now Copy and complete the sentences of exercise two in your folder (Language notes).

Task 3

Go to your “Liveworksheets” account (if you haven’t opened the account yet and you don't know how to do it, go to the tutorial video we published yesterday on the blog).Once you log in, go to “mis cuadernos” where you will find a worksheet for you. Listen to Ed Sheeran’s song “Perfect” and complete the activities proposed on that worksheet.

Finally, I am attaching the first eight chapters of the book War with Grandpa for you to listen to them and revise the story for next week. Enjoy it in this link:

Elbow bump and happy Easter!!!!

Hi everybody!!
We are here again to continue working hard with you!

Today we will start a new topic: "How do we explain prehistoric times?".

Task 1: Open your Compass book on page 78.
Take a look at the pictures and think: are these fossils familiar to you?
Where do you think you can find something similar? Why are fossils important?

Now watch the following video:

Task 2: Answer the following questions on your folder (Language notes):
According to the video...
1) When did triolbites appear?
2) Are triolbites younger than dinosaurs?
3) Which is the discovery that scientists have recently made?

Task 3: Read Lee's words below:
"My brother and I were walking near the waterfalls, when we saw some cool layers of rock".

In the previous sentence, Lee is making use of two different tenses: Past Simple and Past Continuous. Take a look at the following video where you can find the different uses of the Past Continuous tense:

If you still have doubts, go to your folder, we copied a mind map during our last week at school that might help you.

And that's all for today!!

Before we say good-bye, there are two important things that we would like to tell you:
First, we would like you to open an account on "Liveworksheets" so you will be able to save all the activities you do online and see the teacher's corrections. We leave you on this link the tutorial to open the account. It is very easy!!!

The code number you need is the following: pik1x09qnd

The second information is about our Zoom meeting. I'll be waiting for you at 3 pm tomorrow!!! I look forward to seeing you all!!!

Tons of love!!

DRAMA - 6TH FORM - APRIL 7TH

Hi kids!

Hope you are ok!
J

Here is Mister “A.C”, your Drama teacher.

Today, we are going to learn about MUSICALS.

WHAT IS A MUSICAL?

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical production that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. The story is communicated through words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment such as lightning effects and scenery. We call these productions musicals.

Musicals are performed around the world. They may be presented in large venues, such as big budget West End and Broadway theater productions in London and New York City, or in smaller off-Broadway or regional productions, on tour, or by amateur groups in schools, theaters, and other informal stages.

LET´S WATCH! - “10 FAMOUS CHILDREN´S MUSICALS”

This video shows some of the most important musicals. After watching the video, answer:

-       What is your favourite musical?

-        Have you seen it live on stage or in a film?

Monday April 6- Kilkenny

April 6th

Hello children!!!
Hope you had a nice weekend. We are ready to start!

Watch this video and follow the instructions. These are stressing days. We hope it helps you unwind a little…

Now let´s start work!

Open your Compass book on page10.

Now let's read the story. Play the following audio as you read it

Once you listened and read the story, answer the following questions in your folder:

  1. What does Astrid’s mother want her to do?
  2. How does Astrid feel about her chores at the beginning of the story?
  3. What rights and responsibilities do people havei n Astrid’s kingdom?
  4. Why can’t Astrid find something to eat?
  5. Why does Astrid get upset when she talks to the gardener?
  6. How does Astrid’s mom react when she gets back from the store?
When Astrid says “If I’m in charge some day, I’ll let people have fun all the time. I won’t make them do things they don’t want to”, what does it come to your mind? Does this remind you of something or someone? (this question is for you to think about, you don't need to answer this on your folder!).

Task 2: Some more practice on Simple Past. Do the following activity:

Once you finish, remember to click on “Terminado/Enviar mis respuestas a mi profesor” and write the following code: dtaek1gpn3

We are receiving all your exercises and they are really very good!!! Keep it up!!

Keep on working hard and ask me if you have a question.

Elbow bump!

Friday, April 3rd - Kilkenny

April 3

Hello Kids!

We are going to work today with MODAL VERBS. These verbs can’t be used on their own, they need to be followed by another verb. However, they provide additional information on that verb.

Modal verbs are used to express ability, obligation, permission, probability, etc.
Today we will focus on MUST and MUSTN’T.

MUST expresses obligation and MUSTN’T expresses prohibition.
And the use is very easy!!

Example: You mustn’t speak French in class (prohibition), you must speak English (obligation)

If this is not yet clear for you, you can watch the following video:

Now go to page 17 on your Compass book. Read very carefully exercise 1 with all the examples and then do exercise 2 on the same page.

You are now ready to do the following activities:

Always remember to click “Terminado/Enviar mis respuestas a mi profesor” when you finish.

Remember that my code is: dtaek1gpn3

LITERATURE

You will also have to do some exercises about “The War with Grandpa”, chapters 6 and 7. Follow this link:

Remember that my code is: dtaek1gpn3

And for next Friday (April 10th) read Chapters 8 and 9.

That’s all for today! Have a beautiful weekend!!

Love, Miss Meli
